The Weekly Pulse

Community Spotlight

Every week, we rotate the ecosystem into the spotlight — a Rising CEO one week, the scholar they're inspiring the next.

Week 1 - Rising CEO Spotlight

Kelsey Herrera

Founder and CEO of ParentKind & Senior at Marian High School

Rising CEOs challenges, connects, and grows you in ways that are always worth it.

The 2025 Rising CEOs Champion transformed just over $500 in startup funding and an entrepreneurial vision into ParentKind, a real, operating business providing personalized newborn subscription boxes and community connections designed to support first-time parents and reduce the stigma surrounding parental struggles.

But the impact of Rising CEOs went far beyond seed funding. Through mentorship, guidance, and meaningful connections, she gained the confidence, skills, and support needed to turn her idea into action — laying the foundation for ParentKind to grow, thrive, and make a lasting impact on families and their communities.

Samuel Olumide

Ph.D. student in Agricultural Economics and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Washington State University

The interview and CV review boosted my confidence and motivated me to apply for more than six jobs. The LinkedIn workshop also helped me strengthen my profile, increase my visibility to potential employers, and build valuable connections. I’m truly grateful for the support and impact of this program.

Samuel Olumide came to Suit Up in 2023 for a suit — he left with a career strategy. A refreshed résumé, sharper interview skills, and an optimized LinkedIn profile gave him the confidence to expand his network and send out six job applications immediately. Today, he’s a Ph.D. student in Agricultural Economics and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Washington State University, researching behavioral economics and rural development to improve outcomes for farming communities in developing countries.

Week 5 - Scholar Spotlight

Princess Beatrice Sunday-Jimmy

Graduate student in Biology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha

Receiving the MAC Foundation Scholarship impacted me both academically and personally. It helped ease financial pressure and allowed me to give more attention to my academic work. More than that, it was a reminder that my hard work is being recognized, which encouraged me to keep growing and doing my best.

When Princess Beatrice received a MAC Foundation Scholarship, it provided more than financial support — it gave her the freedom to focus on her education, research, and future without the added burden of financial stress.

With renewed confidence, she pursued additional research opportunities and grants, expanding her experience and moving closer to her goal of using science to improve lives. Her journey reflects the lasting impact of investing in promising students—empowering them to achieve their potential, give back, and inspire the next generation.
